Happy Thanksgiving 2024

I remember reading in Our Daily Bread years ago about the different thanksgiving celebrations around the world. Many countries have one like ours, with some variations. Maybe it all started with Moses, when God told him to hold a “harvest festival” for His people. In Exodus 23:16, God said, “Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field.”

Today, in the African country of Ghana, they hold their Yam Festival as a harvest event. In Brazil, its Dia de Acao de Gracas- a time to be grateful for the healthy crops. In China, they hold a Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival. In the United States and Canada we simply call it Thanksgiving.

And don’t forget Noah- God reminded him and his family to be grateful for His provision. (Gen. 8:22). Our hearts turn to God in gratitude for everything in life.

What are you most grateful for?... Maybe its just that the Election is finally over! Indeed, we Americans have much to be thankful to God for. NO ONE gets all ‘green lights and blue skies’ in life, but make sure you take time today to express gratitude to God for His blessings shown to you. He knows what we need, even before we ask. You open your hand, and satisfy the desires of every living thing. Psalm 145:16 What an amazing, powerful and personal God we have!

On November 24 here at CCC, we will celebrate God’s goodness to our Church Family-we will give thanks to God for all His many, many blessings. I hope you can join us!

Happy Thanksgiving 2024!
